Event Details

Two journalists address the relationship between television and politics: confrontation versus the search for truth. Beginning with a discussion of complaints against the press, Duke addresses the importance of investigative reporting, the duty of the press, and the way that television has revolutionized the news business. McDowell then addresses the various ways that television has changed the political process in the U.S. During the questioning time, the speakers discuss the causes of the low participation of the U.S. voters, the strength of social justice in the U.S. government, the involvement of the U.S. State Department in the reporters' interviews with foreign officials, and the role of television in elections.
