Stephen Anderson, a visiting professor and expert of Japanese politics, focuses his forum on Japan?s current relations with America. Anderson begins by giving a brief account of the 1993 political transition in Japan. He then touches on a verity of issues relating to Japanese-American relations including Japanese economic reforms, the election system in Japan, deregulation in Japan, tax-cuts in Japan, Prime Minister Hosokawa?s relationship with President Clinton, American-Japanese security relations and economic trade relations. During the questioning session Anderson discusses the LDP and SDP party in Japan, the Japanese economy, APEC, deregulation, Japanese symbolism, and gerrymandering in Japan.
