A panel of scholars holds a discussion on human rights. Fowler begins the discussion by addressing the complications of international law and jurisdiction to prosecute human rights violators. He argues that there is wide division in America over what role human rights should play in American foreign policy. Fowler stresses the inconsistency of American foreign policy often discredits the human rights commitments. He closes by addressing the Carter presidency?s various accomplishments on international human rights. Eder next addresses the various definitions of human rights, American cultural imperialism and inconsistency in foreign policy. Next Claude argues that the UN must focus on a smaller list of human rights issues to champion. He further contends that an overall increase in international stability would vastly improve human rights conditions. Zeringue follows emphasizing the role of the president in human rights policy. Finally, Womack address Asian human rights. He argues that American foreign policy in Asia is dependent primarily on economic relations.When
